I bought a used STX 38 a few weeks ago. The mower runs great and has been really well cared for. I had a problem today with the blade deck.

After cutting for the first 15 feet the blades would keep disengaging-engaging (it would be disengaged for about half a second at a time) over and over again. I adjusted my weight on the seat, but no change. Then I shut off the blades and tried to turn them back on again. They wouldn't start up. I repeated this a dozen time then finanly they did start up, but would disengage-engage again. Any suggestions?- thanks! Josh

Thanks DeereJunkie,

Turns out to be the wiring for the PTO. The bolt that holds the ground to the frame was only held on by a couple of threads. Cleaned it up really well and now shes like new again. Thanks again.

Josh

CHECK THE SEAT SWITCH WIRING, YOU CAN JUMPER AROUND THE SWITCH ITSELF, CHECK THE PTO SWITCH WIRING , I T COULD BE A FAULTY SWITCH, CICUIT BREAKER OR WORSE OF ALL THE CLUTCH WHICH CAN ALSO BE OUT OF ADJUSTMENT BUT THE SAFETY CIRCUIT WOULD BE MY SUSPECT, GOOD LUCK
