Good machine, was very popular and still a lot of them on the job. You didn't mention hours but a typical 6620 that age is likely to be in the 3000-4500 hr range. By now I'm sure the primary countershaft has been done at least once,(bearings & shaft). Our 6620 had the engine powershaft & bearing replaced twice also while we owned it. The 466 engine tends to be bulletproof if it was properly maintained including coolant changes every 3-4 years or so. A typical straight 6620 this age will sell for under $12000 on auction in my area. I have seen them go as cheap as 5000 if they are cosmetically rough and saw an exceptionally clean '84 with 1100 actual hours sell for 28000 2 years ago. Remember you are looking at a machine that's approaching 30 years of age and you can easily spend more on reconditioning it then the cost to buy it.

Cousins my dad farmed with bought one new in 1981. They never farmed fewer than 4,000 acres while they had it. It gathered no less than a third of the crop until it was traded for a new 9400 in '93. It was a very good combine. There were of course several parts replaced over the years but I can't recall them talking about anything that they disliked about it. It gathered roughly half the sorghum, half the wheat, and 1200 acres of corn by itself for many years since the only other combine its size on the farm was a spike-tooth gleaner. Its companion while it gathered "half" was either a 3300 with 13ft. head or a 4420 with 15ft. head. So obviously it was the workhorse most years and it seemed it was usually requiring less attention than the other two.

6620 is a very good combine ( we love it and wished we had it soon since we use to use a 4400 Diesel Combine
