Where is a good place to get my John Deere LA starter rebuilt or a place I can get all the parts to re-build it myself? Thanks,

ABW-- It has been years since I did one of those but many of those parts including bushings were available at NAPA and other auto parts stores, not to mention parts sources on the net. Follow the procedure John T gave you and you should be ok-- The brushes and Bushings are usualy all they need, Other wise any rebuilder of auto starters can do it, Check with your favorite auto parts and see who they get theirs from and deal direct or have them send it in for rebuild. Good Luck Mr B

I rebuild my own but if you cant most towns have an old fashioned motor/generator/starter repair shop somwehere. Often all they need is cleaning and maybe new brushes and the commutator cleaned and maybe an end bushing which presses in on many. If you disasemble and clean them up and the brushes are good and bearings not shot it may be fine after you get the gunk off the commutator and the brush hold downs all working good assuming the armature isnt shorted out. JD may be able to order parts. Ol John T in Indiana
