As anyone seen The Cider House Rules or The Straight Story? Both are suppose to be good flicks, and have John Deeres in them. How many thumbs up? Might let the wife take me out on a date!

You never know what you'll see or hear when show-biz types mess with tractors. I was reading the paper one time and heard the unmistakable pop-pop on TV-looked up and the sound was coming from an H Farmall! Sacrilege!

I saw a movie (think it was "Analyze This") on cable recently... not all that funny, incidentally. A scene set in the summer of 1957 showed a 730 driving in a field (which of course was made only from 1958 on)...

Maybe one of us should become a tractor consultant to Hollywood...bet it would pay better than fixin' them or farmin' with them.

I recently purchased Hitchcock's "The Birds" and noticed there is a really nice shot of what I think (if I remember correctly) is an A. At the time, that was a genuine "farm" tractor, not an antique or collectable. Good movie too.

I saw the Straight Story on New Years Eve with my wife. It was a good movie. Lot's of shots of the 110 JD in it! It was also a good movie. Not real action packed or alot of dram, but very realistic! No well known actors either. But it's a refreshing break from the science fiction and "too much action to believe it's real" movies that you see today. No foul langiage or offensive scenes. Kinda old fashioned, but good for a change. I definite recommend!

The Straight Story is about the old guy that drives his lawntractor across the country to see his sick brother. A true story. So I guess the little JD gets a lot of time in it. The Cider House Rules has a GPO and an unstyled G in it, I have no idea how much they are shown. There's an article in February 1999 Green magazine about the role the tractors play in the movie. I have yet to see either, but I will! They both are suppose to be really good.
