I've got a 1020 gas that I've had for 26 years. I've used it as a loader tractor the whole time. Nothing that you wouldn't expect to go wrong with a tractor. One overhaul, one clutch job,a hyd pump repair, powersteering repair. There is a hyd block under the right hand step that likes to blow out the o-ring every 3-4 years, good idea to keep those on hand. They never blow at a convienient time or place. But,I use it everyday to load silage and manure.

Check the archives here - there have been many posts on that tractor series. 820-830-1020 Ag and 300 Industrial are all similiar - with varying options. One of the best utility tractors Deere ever made. 1020 has a smaller hydrualic pump than the 300 but otherwise basically the same tractor. If your's is gas it's got the 135 c.i. engine - same as used in 350 crawlers, 380 forklifts, etc. Came with several option packages e.g. two-stage clutch driven PTO or hydraulic independent PTO, hydraulic reverser or hydraulic hi-low, power steering, etc.
