How does the axles come apart to remove them from the housing to replace the bearings and seals?? its a 49 G with a flatback cover. A play by play would be great! Thank you in advance! G

Just to let you know you can"t buy the Timken #47621 cups on serials G10241 to G48399 no more. So if i was you just leave the races alone. If you find them you will pay alot of money for them. I have a second set for sell. You can buy the Timken #47685 witch is the cone bearing still. I just put all new bearings in my 49G a few months back.

Thanks! Ill keep that in mind. Just getting ready to rebuild the final drive, seals and what ever I see when I take it apart. How does the axle come out of the housing? Does it have snap rings, or?? Thank you. G

Well take the back cover off the tractor first and watch because that cover is heavy to. Don"t want to mess up the bull gears with it hitting them. Then take out the carter pins on the end of the axles inside of the tractor. Then get a big wrench and loosen the 2 axle nuts. Just keep spinning the nuts off but don"t take them all the way off though. Then get a steel wedge and put it between the 2 nuts and smack the wedge in and it will start moving the axles out and the outer seal covers will come off when you start to move the axles. You should have 2 people when you do this so you don"t drop the bull gears and so on.

Its got a flat back on it. Im glad it doesnt have the power trol, just for that reason! I had a A that I swapped out the covers and MAN! That power trol was a heavy son of a gun! I did have a I&T manual,, the pages on the final drives are missing. Time for a new one! I know of an older G been sitting in a guys yard for 15 years, along with a few long dash B's. The G,, is in good shape, but the head, carb etc has been long gone. Has duals, wide front end. Whats a fair offer? 2000? Thank you for the info! Its been a while since I had my hand broken by a flying wrench, fallen into the flywheel and pitched it to me like a fast ball! We also have a 58 730 gas, and a 58 620 black dash. Brother in law has an all fuel 70.
