No manual that I"ve seen shows the location of transmission fluid fill, check, and drain ports. Can someone describe where they are located on the Styled Model A (1951)? I can send an email with pictures of the various ports.

I know about the ports for oil and the power trol.

I have a 48A and 52A and the location of transmission fluid fill plug and both drain plugs are the same.

The transmission fill plug is below and left of the RIGHT axle. It is round and has a 1 square head.

The first drain plug is round and has a square head. It is located under the tractor somewhere between the left and right brakes.

The second drain plug is round and has a square recessed opening. It is located under the tractor at the lowest point between the axles.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks much, James. Do I assume then that there is no fluid level check plug, just two drain plugs?

I really appreciate getting your help.

New Holland Tech is correct. Fill to the bottom thread and the fluid level is OK.

I normally tighten the Fill Plug "finger" tight. It will not "work" itself out. A previous owner of my 55 Model 70 diesel somehow broke more than 1/2 of the square head off the cast iron fill plug. I had to use a hammer and chisel to get it off.

I now take pictures of such "stuck and troubled" parts for my "how in the H*LL did they do that" photo album.

Glad I could help.

I had somebody do that very same thing to my pipe plugs that cover the left main bolts rendering any work there impossible without a complete disassembly and replacement of the broken pipe plugs and main bearing assembly on the bench. These are just bolt cover plugs, 30 ft.lbs. max would have sufficed, yet they were broken off to the point nothing but the red hot smoke wrench could or would ever again get them loose. Well beyond insanely stupid if you ask me...

The fill and check plug is the same. If the oil is up to the bottom of the threads for the fill plug, the oil level is good.

Hope that helps.
