I have a freind that is wanting to sell his 4010 JD went to look at it today. Drove it around it goes in 1st 3rd 5th and 7th just fine 2nd 4th 6th and 8th you have to move the shifter up about 3/8 of a inch to get it to go in gear. High reverse is fine but low and mid reverse are a pain to get into. Can this be Adjusted out without splitting the tractor? He is asking me 3000 Is this a fair price? Tractor shows 6700 hrs and is sraight as a pin and no welds that I could find.

Thanks Alan B

Good price for one that runs and drives. Fix all the worn parts and linkage on outside of trans first before tearing into it and change filters and fluids and then see what happens. Just depends on if has had gears grinding or abused very long? When changing trans oil pull sump screen and see if any metal on it.
