Not good i'm not familiar with JD's i have fords but i'll have to help him. i told him to fill the crankcase up with kerosen roll it over a few times drain it and fill it with clean oil for now ,also told him to squirt some in the cyclinders will this help ? when i can get up there i'll do a compression test what else should we do i think he has a crack in the head or block thanks gentleman for any advise we haven't done a thing yet til i heard from some of the pros here.

That's really weird ??? the antifreeze usually goes to the bottom and comes out first ???

did we do the right thing by rinseing it out with kerosine ?where did the antifreeze come from a cracked head or could it be from the block. whats the first thing we shoud start to do compression test ? remove the head ? Where do i start to find out why there was anti freeze in the oil ?? thanks JR.

Rinsing with Kerosine was a wash either way - just waste of time if you ask me.

Antifreeze most likely came from leaking head gasket during colder winter months as it was NOT turned into the oil so it therefore only leaked when the motor was OFF. If it leaked with engine on, the oil would be various shades of milky brown to white and that just doesn't seperate out very cleanly. It WAS antifreeze first and then the clean oil as I've seen it happen myself.

If it were mine, I would double dose it with Bar's Leak or your favorite stop leak and just keep an eye on the radiator levels. You just can't beat the price and convenience of doing only this much over any other repair, provided it works of course.

we sell a lot of heads for m's and 40's

the little fellas dont have a water pump and i sometimes think that when the gauge breaks the fella thinks he can watch it before it runs hot

if you dont see a crack be sure to take it to a shop and have it checked
