The gas tank dos apear to be good, 39 gas tanks are unique to the 39 model

ram ranch -- Very interesting comment -- that the 39-A fuel tanks were unique. I have a tank I have been trying to identify -- bought from eBay as a 38-B tank, but that's not so.

The gasoline tank is soldered into the assembly much as on any of the unstyled tractors. The two filler caps are on an angle (as usual) but are only 5-3/4-inches apart! The fuel tank is 31 inches long. Does this sound like it may be a 39-A tank? Thanks - PatB

It could I don't know what the measurment is between the filler caps, but they are closer. I do know that the gasoline tank is solderd to the large fuel tank, the whole assembly looks like an unstyled tank but I belive the gasoline filler neck is also taller, the same hight as the main tank. To protrude through the hood line.

Yes Indeed! That is true of this one also! Thanks for the added detail! Now what I need to do is determine its capacity in gallons so as to sort of conclude that what I have is in fact a 39-A fuel tank. The beast is in great shape and probably needed by someone out there. Do you know how many gallons the fuel tank for the 39-A held? Thanks once again - PatB.

Maybe about 14 for the main, and 1 for the gasoline.
