Hey my peeps. Quick question for you all. I have 4010 that currently has 11L-15 tires on front. I"m going to buy a new set but wondering if I should go with the 3 rib or 4 rib tires. I"ll be using the tractor for lots of loader work. Thoughts?

Not sure if it's what you want but I bought a set of used airplane tires already mounted on rims for my loader. The original tires were 7.50 x 15 6 ply 3 rib and weren't heavy enough for the loader. New 3 rib 6 ply tires would have been $84 each plus mounting. The Gensco www.noflats.com were a little over $100 each delivered. They look just like rib implement tires so you need to use the brakes for turning. I wouldn't recommend them for row crop work but they are fine for loader work on hard surfaces. They are 24 ply and I've never seen them flatten even a little bit no matter what load is in the bucket.

Go with the 4 rib. I have heard more stories that spindles break from 3 ribs that grab hard on that center rib while turning. The 4 rib may not grip as well while turning in mud or snow, but a slight tap of the brakes will do the trick. Never broke one myself (yet) so I just listen to what I hear. I have a 3020 witha 148 loader and I have 3 ribs on it now. When they go bad I am switching to 4 rib... The center rib does a real good job of tearing up fields while turning. Also it leaves a nice mark when crossing my lawn!

I farm with 4 rib 11.00-16 on the front of my 4020. There's more edges to grab for turning with four ribs than with three ribs where the middle rib is big and the side ribs are small. I have a loader on it too. 11L-15 is a good size, but I gained a couple more inches of crop clearance with mine.

I now have 12.4-42 on the rear for spraying.

I have always used 3 rib with no complaints. Don't really know what the advantage to 4 rib would be, unless they allow you to get a wider foot print. I like the 3 ribs ability to get, and keep me in the direction I want to go with minimal slidding in the worst of conditions. I would stay 3 rib, especially if 4 rib are more $$$$$$.

If will never use it for cultivating again just on the loader and don't need tight turning go with the 4 rib or a heavier ply implement tire. Some put used heavier ply truck tires on front loader tractors if they are going to road it a lot too.
