JD 80 Diesel pony to elect start conversion quest

I have sold many starters and brackets for the conversion for a JD 70 D, both the bracket and starter being the same as what was originally used on a 720-730. Not until yesterday has anyone ever ask me about doing this on an 80 diesel and honestly I have never given it any thought. So my question is, has anyone done this on an 80? Should the starter bracket bolt down like on a 70 and I would have to assume the flywheels are the same? I may have sold someone a set up for an 80 and just dont remember it. Thanks for any help.

Seems to me that if the electric start is more reliable, which apparently they are thus the conversions, then if using the tractor for what it's made for , it would be more valuable and reliable.

Starting engines are fine if the operator has at least a room temperature IQ. I've answered ads for tractors for sale and described as in exellent collector's condition. Only to find some hack has butchered the machine with "improvements". Nobody has any idea where the fenders, pto cover, three point hitch, original seat/battery box or where the starting engine is. They get real puzzeled then angry when I have to drop the offered price $4000.00 to make up for the mess some tinkerer made. Thier reply is "But it "runs good". My answer is "Ok so your Dad can avoid an idecent exposure charge if he wears a dress instead of running around naked. The dress gets the job done, but is it right"? No sale but not my loss.

I'll stand by my pony while you start your tractor here when the temperature drops to -20. then you'll see the value of the electric start.

Putting in a Honda V-6 will make a Model "T" Ford more reliable, but it sure won't be viewed as a representative and collectible artifact.

I like to keep them pony start. As soon as you add an alternator and an electric starter, you kill the real value of the tractor.
Can't help you with the question but I heard of them being changed over.
