Just finished a restoration and was able to start my D with a pull start. Engine ran strong for about one hour. Attempted to hand start today with no success. Seems that no atomized gas is coming out of petcocks. Carb was professionally rebuilt. Any suggestions as to why gas is not getting into cylinders via hand start? FYI - It took a long pull to get the engine to start previously. Carb bowl is full of gas. Thanks again,

You have the hand start choke lever on carburetor like original? I've seen some get a later carb put on from a styled D and on those have to make sure you have choke positioned correctly as lever on outside is different. Make sure the impulse is clicking on mag as it should when rolling over slow to start. Impulse may just need to be lubed up from sticking or spring could be weak or broke or other parts worn. Recheck mag, valve and cam timing too. Try it with intake loose and may need to check air pipes and air cleaner for obstructions. How long was carb off before put back on after rebuild? Insects of any kind can build a nest and plug something up again or more rust inside could have flaked off in a passage way if weren't cleaned out well or bowl vent plugged. Make sure have good flow of fuel to carb.

Sounds like valve trouble to me. May reset your clearnaces and see if it helps. Good luck
