There is a MT on ebay that shows a step from the frame by the battery box that is used to step up into the seat. Is this a John Deere item or an aftermarket/home made? Never saw one before although I'm new to the restoring a JD club.

I've seen lots of pictures of helper steps on MT's but never seen one that looked to me like it would work very well. It seems to mee that in order to get the back leg/foot into the pocket on the tractor where it goes and cannot swivel once it's there, the front leg/foot will be in the way! Maybe I just need to try one.

I suspect the step is home made. I have an MT and my dad made a step that bolts to the cultivator carrier under the battery box. It is just 2"(I think)pipe with 2 elbows, like a Z but the middle part is perpendicular to the ends. It definitely helps to get on this tractor without falling on your face.

It looks like it was home made. John Deere did not make a step for the M series that I know of. I have seen a couple of aftermarket steps for sale that look nice.
