When I got the tractor last week the guy had all parts of the original 3pt except one of the vertical arms (ones that attach to the rockshaft). Are these special to these 40V or are the 3pt pieces universal among all tractors? Just need that one piece and am not sure where to order it. Its the one thats not adjustable. Thanks

Josh, I'm late on this so hope you see it; I have both a 40V and 40T so I compared the two arms side by side. The lower part of the arm appeares to be identical on both. The top part on the 40V is longer than on the 40T. This makes sense as the upper section would have been the cheaper part. If you have trouble finding the correct part, I suggest that you get one from a 40T or 420T (same) and have a good welder splice in a section on the upper part. You can use the right side to get the correct length.

Josh, the parts book shows that arm to be unique to the "V" model only. The part number is AM2628T. But it is adjustable also, it just does not have the crank like the right side does.
You have a very rare tractor there and it would be worth your while to invest in the parts book (PC-862) and the service manual (SM2013)You can get these books from your Deere dealer or you can get nice reprints from a Mr. Tucker. I don"t have his phone number handy at the moment.

Josh,

Do you need the threaded lift link on the left? It's unique to the Special. You may have a difficult time finding that. Or is it the splined arm on the rockshaft? That's common to the T and H as well. A lot of T's made so that one should be easy. I have one of the arms, if you are interested. www.JohnDeere40.com

I would recommend getting a parts manual for the 40s. It makes talking parts with people so much easier and gets you the correct part. I would not buy anything from someone if they did not know the JD number, unless you can inspect it in person. Just my 2 cents.
