Just got a 2010 gas running and went to drive it, can't figure out the gears, possibly some are bad. Diagram is wore off the cowl. Serial no is 14162. Does it have a park and neutral? How do you get it in each range? Can someone tell me the basics of shifting this animal ? Where can I get a decal for shift diagram ?thanks Jim

Jim,
Did the shifting pattern work?
Your serial # indicates the year model is a 1961 2010.

I see in your heading you used the word "synchro." The 2010 does not have a "synchro" trans like the later tractors do. It has a convoluted shift pattern and the transmission is a collar-shift unit with no synchronizers. The later SyncrhoRange transmission used in may Deeres, e.g. 2520, 3020, 4020, etc. looks similar - but it is completely different, the shift pattern is not the same, and the SyncrhoRange collar-shifts are synchronized with little clutch-packs.

Are you sure you are not thinking about the 1010. All of the 2010 AG tractors had an eight speed syncro range transmission.

No, I'm not confusing the 2010 with a 1010 (I've got several 1010s). But, I did forget about the 2010 ag.-version transmissions. They did have a collar-shift trans. with three synchro clutch packs. Don't believe though that it was ever referred to as "Synchrorange." If my memory is correct, the Syncrhorange Deere trademark started with the 2510 Deere. The dealer I worked for would not sell 2010 ag. tractors. He considered them too dangerous since the brakes were useless on a hill - especially when hitched to a loaded wagon. That's one major design flaw that Deere never corrected. We sold many 2010 wheel tractors in idustrial versions - painted yellow. Usually loader-backhoes but also forklifts. Any that I worked on had some sort of non-syncrhonized collar-shift transmission. The 1010s - at least the crawlers - used sliding-gear transmissions - not collar shift. I don't remember what the 1010 wheel tractors had.
