Does anyone know of a source for a drawbar mounted PTO gearbox designed to run PTO equipment on the front of a tractor? I would like to put my snowblower on the front. I have seen them on small tractors. In my case I need one capable of up to 75 PTO HP. Thanks.

Mark

Have you looked at a 3020? They usually have a mid mounted 1000rpm pto. So does a 4020.

I had a 3020 and used it for snowblowing. I considered putting it on the loader on the front. I was advised that the mid PTO would turn the blower backward. It was used for sickle bar mowing where the direction doesn't matter and some speciality tools designed for this rotation. This makes sense as the mid PTO is the same shaft that comes out the back less the stub shaft and the blower would be turned around to connect to it. Please post back if someone has different information.

Thanks

Mark

Think this out thoroughly on the PTO directions.

I have a 4020 PS, and a Hiniker single-stage snowblower that drives off of the front PTO shaft.

Our local town has a Hydro 100 IH with a standard REAR 540 PTO that drives a chain "drop box" that has a long long power shaft to the front that drives an identical Hiniker snowblower.

Either the PTO shaft directions work out, or one of the Hinkers has it's 90-degree gearbox changed around to change the direction of rotation, and make it work.

The front-mount snowblowers I have seen for a tractor of that size use a chain drive, usually open, to drop the drive down to run to the front.

On a tractor that size, the drop needed is considerable, and it would take quite a "gearbox" to get that much drop.

It seems to me one of the snowblower outfits uses an enclosed chaincase, Erskine, I think. Maybe you could scavenge a used one somewhere?

Also, have you looked at Surplus center. The how LOTS of surplus gearboxes of various kinds.

I think I would look into running it off of hydraulic power. I think I saw some on ebay for sale that were made from converted rear 3pt. models and you hooked them on your loader frame and they may of ran off a pto pump then all you need is some long hoses.
