I want to use a remote cylinder with the tractor as I am looking for a 2 bottom plow that uses a remote. Which is easier: finding the correct plugs for the powertrol, or I have seen where people have used pipe fittings coming off the right side of the Powertrol and hooked them up to quick connects?

I believe you can still get the proper plugs for the power trol at the dealer

There is someone makeing reproductions of those plugs and ebay has them all the time. But it is alot cheaper to hook up the elbows and some pioneer couplers on the RH side. It all depends on what you want or need. The plugs out the back will give you pressure both ways the ones out the side only have pressure to lift and gravity down which works fine for most all implements.

I have been informed on this forum that plumbing out the side works, however, both the rock shaft and the remote cylinder are active with this method. The path of least resistance is actuated first meaning in your case the rock shaft would rotate first (nothing on it) and then the cylinder. No harm except it would cause a delay in the action. The remote cylinder connections are designed to seal the passage for the rockshaft. They are available at salvage, ebay, John Deere, and probably others. I plumbed pioneer fittings to my remote connections so I don't have to take an oil bath every time I connect or disconnect and for cylinder compatability with my 5520. I have not found out yet whether the poineers would pull apart or the plug would pull if I broke away from the plow. BTW, you can use trans/hydraulicfluid in the system instead of the manual call out of 30 weight motor oil so the oil is compatable with modern tractors.

Hope this helps,

Mark

To stop the rockshaft from going up and down, just hold it up with something to keep it from going down every time. Maybe a vise grip will work?
