jpsepp:

Not trying to be a "smart arse" but I have a novel idea; "Don't buy it".

Instead buy a John Deere with "bad brakes" if you must, cause there are an utter ton of folks here that know everything about stuff like that.

Take care friend and good luck with whatever you buy,

Osage

I'd say call a Kubota dealer and get a price quote to fix it and deduct that from the selling price.

Most anyone selling a tractor without brakes probably hasn't performed the necessary maintenance elsewhere....I would be very cautious...have no idea on cost but there probably are of a wet nature and I'm sure they are probably expensive.

Ebay has over a hundred manuals on auction and your"s may be one of them. I have all the manuals for my John Deere compact. You need to review all the data before proceeding. Most of the compacts are going to be service specific in nature. Parts costs alone are expensive and you sure can"t afford a mistake. Buy the manuals.
