I am trying to fix the mounting of the floor pan to the differential housing. The bolts that hold the plate on rusted into the differential housing. Are these bolts supposed to be flathead bolts? and what size are they? 1/2-13? do these bolts go through to the inside of the housing. I am planning to drill them out and put heat on them to free them up or even completely drill and tap the housing. I don't want to open the rear end up if i don't have to. any advise?

I have had good luck getting them out with a hammer and punch or an air hammer. You work out at the edge of the slot to get a bite and hold it at an angle and drive in direction to unscrew. If they don't move heat them and let them cool and try again. Alot of these were buggered up before me so once out I replace them. In the days before correct connection I was able to find similar type screws at local nut and bolt house that had an allen head which I liked better anyhow.I put neverseez on the threads and a dab of silicone in the allen hole to keep dirt out so next time removal will be easy. I can't remember if those holes on that model go directly into the bull gear area or a blind hole or into the hollow area of the outer axle. I'm thinking more of the last choice. But not sure.

Deere does have the allen head screws. They hold the deck plates to the gear boxes on the 43 series and newer corn heads. Jim

Heat them red hot and let them cool. They will screw out then.

Instead of the drilling why don't you well a nut to the head and then let cool. Should come right out. I wouldn't even consider drilling.

The way I got mine out was using a straight socket (I believe it is a drag link socket used on the steering on cars and trucks years ago), on a 1/2" impact gun and they came right out. I got new ones from Sharps. Other suppliers on this site may have them too.

The ones I have replaced were a straight-slot, bevel head, 1/2"-13, and used a star washer underneath for a lock. Not sure if the "B" is the same. The "B" parts book calls them cap screws, but the ones I've seen were not cap screws.

Correct Connection has the right ones if'n ya can't find them anywhere else. Yes they are a straight slotted beveled or countersunk bolt with a matching serated lock washer. They match the beveled hole in the platform to make a flush fit so as to not catch your feet on and trip. Put anti-sieze on them.
