One thing- the hi/lo was a option I have yet to see one without it BUT there are supposed to be some out there- I would want the hi/lo though. One other thing about the hi/lo lots of guys around here thought you could switch that on the go- all those guys got to replace that hi/lo after a few times of that!

Sorry this reply is so late-was away from home over new year's. I've owned a 7520 for over 20 years. Retired from farming after the 2005 crop, but still have the tractor. Overall it's a "good old horse", not perfect, but mostly a very dependable machine. Mine has always had the fuel delivery set to produce a little over 200 hp. & the power/chasis capability ratio seems about right at that level, even though I'm fully aware that the engine is capable of much more hp. Love the 16 spd tranny, but wish the high/low could have been a power shift. Yes, the cab is noisy--ear protection is mandatory. I never owned a tractor with a quiet cab, so a pair or two of the yellow ear plugs have been part of my uniform ever since I bought my 4010D with an add on cab in 1967.

One thing to watch... the "2-speed" is in the rear 1/2 of the tractor, and operated by a "Morse cable".

If the cable gets gummed up, or otherwise out of whack, and the 2-speed doesn't shift COMPLETELY into HIGH or LOW when the lever in he cab is shifted, damage can occur to the two-speed.

my dad bought one new in 1975 i thing that was the last year made. traded it in about 7 years ago with 7700 hours on it never touched the motor, went through a couple clutchs and joints on the drive shafts. back when i was running the 7520 in my high school days in the mid 80"s i turned up the injector pump for more power. i never knew how much power i gained until one day there was a guy coming around selling alcohol injector pumps. injecting alcohol into the manifold the guy told my dad we would get around 35 more horse. well i begged my dad to get it. we were pulling a john deere 36 foot digger with mulchers and a 36 foot brillion packer in tandem. looked like alot of equipment out in the field back then. anyway my dad whated to see the diffrence on the alcohol so we took the 7520 to the dealer to dyno it.without the alcohol it was running 275 horse (remember i played with the pump)and with the alcohol pump turned on it was 310 horse. the shop forman walked away shaking his head and talking under his breath that it would explode. for as long as i live i will never forget that. it ran that way until we traded it off. the bad part about the 7520 was it did not have diff lock and sometimes shifted hard. it had a high and low shifter coming off the floor. in road gear in high that tractor would roll 35 mph

I had a 7520 for about 10 years. The cab was a little noisey but it was a good dependable tractor

I've never seen a 7520 upclose, Was the operators' station similar to other New Generation tractors i.e. was the shifter on the dash?HJ

Yes the shifter was on the dash. It was similar to a 4620

The shifter was on the dash in the same place the rest of the new generation tractors, but a little different in that there were two levers....one for the 4 ranges and the other for high/low/reverse.

I guess you are asking about 1970s 4x4 7520 ? Still see a few around still going and working and never heard any real bad problems with them. Most you find will now will probably have lots of hours on them.
