A 4010, should by now, have been reequipped with 4020 sleeves and pistons, thus giving it 4020 power. My 4020D easily handles a JD 530 which makes a 5x6 bale. As for your pto not stopping when you put in the clutch, that is called LIVE POWER TAKE OFF and it is the DESIREABLE set up for using pto equipment. Shutting off the pto is done with that handy handle on the side of the dash cowling. If you had a tractor with a transmission driven pto, one where the power to the pto stopped when you put in the clutch, your machine, while under load would lose power , possibly cauing it to plug. You want continuous pto power to a machine like a baler. Another drawback to tranmission driven pto is that if the operated machine has a large rotating mass, like say a brush cutter or a square baler flywheel for example, then when you put in the clutch, the large rotating mass transfers it;s power back into the transmission, driving the tractor in gear, in spite of your having the clutch in. This can cause collisions with trees, fences, buildings, other vehicles for example. Be glad for your Live pto. The 4010 is a near ideal size tractor for haying. What baler were you contemplating using?
