I was looking into buying a 420 hicrop from a guy in town and the tractor says it has powersteering and it is a 5 speed. How rare are these options on these tractors? I dont believe they were after market options put on by the owner. Also, do the silver exhausts go with the later hicrops or the early ones? This tractor is a 1958 and what was the last serial number of the 420s? This one starts with 1300XX, just wondering if that was pretty late in production of that year. Thanks for any help.

I can't help with the power steering and 5 speed question without digging out an old Green Magazine. If no one else comes up with the answer, I'll dig the article out and try to help.

To answer the serial number question (info from a Green Magazine article) is that there were 183 420 Hi Crops built in the 1958 model year. First serial number was 125132 and the last was 136856.

The serial numbers were apparently spread over the whole 420 line.
