Looking at buying a 4120, BUT...no one knows if this thing would pull a 3 bottom plow (3 point hitch)...not even the dealer...who says "I don"t think we could even find a 3 bottom plow". Can anyone give me a direction to go here?

You all have some very good points, but I can't get over the hydro transmission on the 4120 ....it's sweet!! And, it would be great when bailing hay, adjusting the speed, etc. The 5105 has some more horse and bucket lifting power, but not the transmission I dearly love. I know the benefits of having a new tractor vs. an old one....I've got a WD Allis that leaks fluid everytime I raise the hydralics, and I blew the head gasket this summer when I was digging in the field. And, I have a John Deere 2640.... nice little tractor that leaks fluid too, and problems with steering....so I took it in to get the steering tightened and fluid leak checked...and all totaled over $4G to $5G to fix that one (tighten rear axle seals, hydralic pump, steering parts, etc. I need a tractor that's nice/easy to operate... (55 years old) and will pull a 13 foot tandem disk, or a 14 foot field cultivator. If you guys think that the 4120 would do that, but have doubts about the 3 bottom plow (I need to get into the earth at least 10-12 inches), then I GUESS I could live with just a 2 bottom plow.

As Buick and Deere pointed out below, a 5105 can be had for about the same price. Go to JD website and under Agriculture/Products/Tractors you can get all the specs. They list the Neb Test # as well. Then you can "build and price". The 4120 starts out with a list of $22,109. The 5105 MFWD starts at $23,858. My experience with JD is to expect about a 20+/-% discount from list and more than that during special sale periods. Personally, I'd look at the 5105. As far as pulling three plows, that depends on your soil conditions and your plowing style. There's a guy on here who says his 5320 is having problems pulling 3 plows.

Heck NO!!! That new-fangled thing is not heavy enough to pull any 3 bottom plow, I don't care if it's 4 wheel drive or ten wheel drive, it's not going to pull it. What do you want that expensive thing for anyway when you can buy a good used (and heavier) tractor for much, much less???

In light soil the 4120 will do fine with three 14" bottoms. It will do better if ballasted down and a 4WD with a mechanical, not a hydrostatic trans. It will walk all over a two cylinder A pulling the same load if 4WD and mech trans. The other option is the M4WD 5105 which is the same as a 5205 but turned down a little. I can't afford new but it's cheaper than repairing old equipment.

Well, I have a 2640, but the cost to fix it is about $5G, and I already have $9G in it. Will never get my money out of that thing. I'm retiring in about 5 years, and I'm thinking....Hey, a nice tractor for the rest of my life...on my small farm.... kinda sweet! Yes, pricey, but is it worth it? AND, where to I get a 3 bottom plow for this thing?
