When using hydraulics, hydraulic oil foams out through dipstick tube and hydraulic pump becomes noisy. Hydraulic oil always topped to full mark before each use. Going through an awful lot of hydraulic fluid this way. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello....a few questions ...Have you drained the transmission ?? any abnormal "things" appear in the oil ?? have you removed the suction screen ? the transmission pump draws oil through a suction screen... a tube in the bottom of the transmission ...if this is clogged with foreign material,(remains of cylinder packings are common) it will cause this "cavitation" of the transmission pump....I would check this first..I want to say it is accessible from the left hand side of the transmission case...after removal of a steel tube bolted to the side ....its been a while since i worked on one of these Titanics so my description of the location may not be 100% accurate..but its down there !!! trust me !!and if its never been out ...hopefully it is only clogged with packing material from some cylinders and not plugged with metal from clutch plates and discs....

I think the suction screen is behind the hyd. filter return line on the right side of trans case. A high pressure leak will also cause foaming. You can isolate the different systems on this tractor as well as the pump itself, so you should be able to track down where a leak is coming from.

First thing I'd do, is drain out whatever you have in there, and run it a moment, and drain it again. Refill with good-quality hyd. fluid - the better, the better- as it sounds like you may have some atf or water contamination in there. It is not made to take the pressure, and when de-pressurizing, will foam, much like that not-very-cold beer you open for lunch in the field.
