I retrieved this # JD450BC184581T off the mfg plate and the local dealer doesn't handel industrial archives ???. Can anyone help me with the year, confirm the model, and engine size/.h.p. This was the engine # *T04219D10418* and under that was 4219DT008. I'm looking at a purchase on this dozer and would appriciate any past history on it.

Great info. If my memory serves me correctly I believe I saw a small turbo.

Did the B every change or improve on any horsepower in a year or half year model at any time?

Is there any other way to distinguish the B from the C i.e. control levers? I do have photos.

For 450B crawler with that ser. no., my info says 1974, 65 hp. The engine tag identifies it as a 4 cyl., 219 cu. in. engine.

My book has it a 1974, 450B.

I don't see the 450B listed on the JD site, but here is the 450C. They are almost the same, except the C is a little more weight and has a turbo. Both have 219 engines, and are listed at the same horse power.

There is a Big difference between a B and C. A C is a wet clutch machine.

The original decals say JD 450 B on it, but the serial # says JD450BC, then the rest of the # as I gave in the first email above. I'm kinda confused now because this is big difference between wet & dry clutches????
