I purchased the subject tractor recently and the drawbar was missing. What I need is the measurements, length, width and thickness, of the stock drawbar along with the measurements for the hole pattern. Thanks.

Thanks Johnnyputt for your efforts. Mike M. is correct---my tractor is a 1955 JD 40 Two-Row utility. 1955 was the first year for this model and there was a limited number produced, I believe around 1500. The two-row utility configuration went on to become the most popular model of the 420 and 430 I think. With the 420 and 430 they were referred to as the Row-Crop Utility.

The drawbar for the JD 40 Two-Row Utility tractor is a long one. It attaches to a bracket that interacts with the mid-tractor implement mounting bracket.

I've got a 320U here I could measure for you, but would have to check the book to see if it's the same as a 40U, and it would depend on which 40U you have.

There are two different drawbars for two different serial number ranges as you can see with these pictures. The material to use is cold roll steel. I"m presently making one for a 40V.

He has (I thought) a two row utility which should be a 40-W
and they are not like those.

I got one. I'll see if I can get what you need fairly soon. I'll send an email.

Maybe others can help with what grade of steel to use ?
