Can someone tell me the differece between an all fuel manifold and a gasoline one? How can I tell the diffrence when looking at them? What part no. would fit on a 36 A.

JOHNSON Repo Gas Manifold in reply to Danes Dad, 12-03-2006 16:37:34
There is a aftermarket reproduction manifold available that replaces the A36R that fits A up to 487999 and it's a repo of the Johnson cold gas manifold. It has the same square exhaust flange. Any of us aftermarket vendors could sell you one and they may show it listed on here too. Did you check?

The original all fuel manifold for a unstyled A is A36R and for all unstyled A"s there was not a cold gas manifold offered from deere unless you have a AR/AO which carry the castings numbers A1003R, A2690R, or AA5578R.

Danes Dad,
In general, gas manifolds had less material than all fuel manifolds - the extra mass in the AF manifold was needed to heat the fuel going into the head to make it easier to gasify.

Johnson Machine Shop made a gas manifold for an unstyled A - part number A-20. These occasionally show up at swap meets, or you might try advertising in one of the magazines. They were sold thru Tractor Supply and Central Tractor.

Heisler also made a high compression head and associated manifold for the unstyled A - the head was HA-587 and the manifold for that head was HA-1362. Heisler also made a HA-362 gas manifold for the A587R Deere unstyled head. Heisler products also show up, but are valued by pullers and the prices can be high.

Hi Glen,
A big oops - I knew that but forgot when responding. Don Dufner had the old Johnson patterns at one time and had a bunch cast - I wonder who is casting them now?

I never saw a gas manifold for a unstyled A, The later A gas manifolds won't fit because the ports are shaped different, the intake especially. I tried to put one from a 41-46 A on a 37 A wouldn't work easily I guess anything is possible for enough MONEY. I have it still it NOS and I would sell it if you want to try.
