The gearshift on my b will pull out to the point where I feel if I kept pulling it would come completely out. As it is it pulls out enough to not engage a gear. Everything works ok as long as it is "down". What do I need to do to correct the problem?

You need to replace the snap rings which retain the shift lever in the transmission case cover. You may also need to replace the shift lever itself if it is excessively wore. The lever fits inside a fulcrom ball that may need to be replaced also. Pretty straight forward job, just unbolt the transmission case cover, pull the steering shaft and lift the assembly from the tractor. It should be repaired soon... it is possible to get the tractor locked into 2 gears at once, and that will make some more work.
