There are 7 different versions made of model 40 tractors and the price can vary greatly as some are more scarce than others. The variation is stamped on the serial number tag unless it is a plain old 40 T then the tag just says model 40 others can be 40 W,40 C,40 S,40 v,40 H,40 U

Post back with what you have.

KEEP IT, my 1953 40 standard was owned by my uncle 2 driveways down for many years, I was too little to even remamber it. He traded it in at the dealer for a used 50. I found a 40 & bought it in 1993 for use in Tobacco. He said his had Ford wheel bearing cap on the front & a chip in the pto housing. After cleaning away some grease... his tractor has made its way back the same farm it started on!!!! Tractor means more to me after finding that out, your nephew may want it someday???

Larry, I agree with Johns48b. I've had no luck at finding my Dad's JD M. Our farm was in Fayette County, Alabama on Route 1 Winfield. Where are you in Alabama? I know some folks who may be interested in your tractor.

larry, i wouldn't sell that family tractor at all. you'll wish you had it back in a few years to leave to a grand kid. is there nobody in the family that will keep it? just my 4 cents. things are higher now than they use to be.
