I have a JD 2010 diesel and I am trying to find the year of the tractor. The serial number tag is missing from the right side of the engine block. Is there another way to find the year of the tractor using other numbers?

Thanks

John

You can narrow down the vintage of the 2010 by casting numbers, type of parts used, injection pump number (on a tag), etc. From old to newer, 2010 crawlers had at least - there different types of fuel injectors, etc. Earlist 1960 injectors were held in by a metal plate with two bolts - the plate separate from the injector. Next year, the injector was threaded in and had a large hex on it. After serial # 42,000 - the injector has an integral two-bolt mounting flange built into it. Also, the earliest 1960 injection pumps did NOT have the lines directly attached to the pump with banjo-fittings. There were four short adaptors on the pump before #31,000. Fuel filters had no removeable bowls before #42,000. Hydraulic pump for 1960 crawlers, and a few 1961s is a Webster Electric - later use Cessna. I cannot give a complete list here, but many changes were made, just about every year the 2010 ws produced.

On my neighbor's 2010, there is a TRACTOR serial # plate attached to the FRONT of the seat pedestal. There is a transmission serial # on the top of the tranny case, at the LH side, under the operator's platform. On that tractor, they are like 200? apart. I have the numbers written down somewhere, if I find them, I'll post them for comparison, FWIW.
