Can one one tell me how to add shims to the hydraulic control valve of a early 2010 gas? I have replaced three hydraulic hoses and ran a pressure test on the system and found that I was only getting 800 psi. The I&T manual says I should have between 1450-1550 psi. I think that if I add some shims(how many?)I should be able to get my pressure up to 1550-2000 psi.

The valve on my 2010 does not look like the one in the I&T manual. I have two hoses coming from the top of the valve. Where is the relief valve plug that I add the shims to? How many should I need? Is this hard to do? Thank you, Steve.

Are you talking about the remote cylinder valve. Have you checked the pump pressure by removing the seat and cover installing a guage in the test port while blocking the arms down? If the pressure here is 1500 lbs, the pilot machined on the relief valve is probably broken allowing the valve to turn on its side or the spring is broken. If yours has the later round mounting base the relief valve is still in the the remote valve housing. Second thought, the valve or valve seat could be severely eroded, either way I doubt you can gain 700 lbs with shims. The steering, rockshaft, and remote valve have seperate relief valves, if pressure is low in all systems, you probably have pump problems. Always do the easiest thing first change the filter.

I don't remember where the relief valve is located, it might be on the lower right side by the brake arm, on the trans. Because it has been 20 years since I had to work on the 2010. But we use to start with a 1/4" nut to shim with, and then tested the hyd. I hope your Trans pump and the main pump are not getting worn and loosing their pressure. I think JDGnut can help you with the relief valve location and possible cure. If I remember correctly you will need to get a flow test to see how many gallions per min of oil flow. This will help you with the pressure problem
