I have a question on a piston. 1944 b that is in need of pistons. I am going to have to machine the cylinder bore due to stuck pistons. want to have a spare pair of pistons in hand in case pistons are deemed unusable. Found a pair in good shape on ebay. it is listed as part b2381r, and listed for a late styled b. the only piston part number is b3281r, which is a .045 oversized that interchanges w/ the early styled b's. I don't mind boring it .045 over, because the price is right on the pistons. just want to make sure that if i get them, and i mill the block, that the pistons will fit the rods, etc. thanks guys

you can bore the 4 1/2" block out to 4 11/16" just fine. Done it a bunch. Never had a problem

Your B should have a 4 1/2" bore stock the later B"s are 4 11/16" stock so they won"t interchange directly. You will have to bore out an awful lot of metal to make them fit and then run a risk of hitting a thin spot in the cyl. wall. It has been done in the past and worked and it will give you alot more HP.
