Bought this 50 and had to tear into it for the first time. Putting it back is wear the trouble begins. Having a spliced up original harness and not paying close enough attention was wear I went wrong. Here is what I have. Negative ground battery. Posive cable to starter. A small 12 or 14 guage wire goes from the starter to what I beleive is a remy delco ballast resistor. From the side the starter wire attached to a lead goes to the + side of 6 volt coil. A lead then comes off - side of coil and goes to distributor. A second wire off - side of coil exist and I assume it went to the switch but not sure what post on the switch to attach to. Going back to the other side of the ballast resistor a wire comes off and I assume also leads to the switch. Equiped with a one wire delco alternator. If I have this right the wire from alternator leads to one side of amp guage and then from other side of guage to the positve post of battery. Does this all sound right up to this point. I did a search on this forum and from what I have read the wires on the coil are switched but this is how I found it and it ran fine. The other question is if all is fine up to this point where on the switch do I attach my wires from ballast and from - side of coil. One would go to the ignition and the other possible to a terminal on the swith marked "bat" I would assume. A lot has been discussed on how to run from ignition, to ballast, to coil but I find nothing on how the small wire from the starter ties in. I assume it is wired in a series somehow. Any help pulling this altogether.

Originally they were positive ground, but when someone switched to alternator they most likely changed to negative ground to accommodate the alternator. The second wire off the minus side of the coil should not be there, no need for it. The wire as you say "off the other side of the ballast resistor" is to go to the switch. To find the correct terminal on the switch, set the switch in the ignition position and measure the terminals and find the terminal that has 12 volts on it that will turn off when you turn off the switch. (PS: the word "wear" should be "where")
