Looked at a 4430 yesterday, at an auction. When I ran it , it didn't want to change gears between 1st and 2nd, or 3rd and 4th. It did it in A, B, C, D range, and reverse. Nothing seemed to slip, but it seems like you are only getting the high gears. Is something adjusted wrong in linkage or is high low bad?
The auctioneer said that's the way it came in and doesn't know the history.

Had that happen on my 4430 once. It was a hydraulic connection inside the transmission that came appart. The mechanic was able to fix it through an opening on the side of the tranny. He was able to put a clamp on the pipe to hold it in place. Was very hard to work on through that little hole. That could be it or it could be more serious.

It could be linkage needs adjusting. Actually 1/3 and 2/4 use the same hyd.parts in the hyd hi-lo. If a short hyd. line on outside of clutch pack held by clamp gets distorted it will lose hi or lo but I can't remember which speed goes out. Tx Jim

Usually the low side slips. Have to break the tractor to get to it.
