Have a question, regarding paint scheme. Besides the wheels being yellow, what other parts are something besides green and yellow. Exhaust is flat black. Anything else? I've seen gas caps black, green, and red. What is right. thanks

Thanks for the advice. Managed to leave out the year and model - 1944 B, all-fuel.

What tractor are you talking about? Some have black dash and green generators such as the last year of the 20 series and all the 30 series.

In addition, the lights and generator should be black. The gauge rims are black or green depending on the model. Some were installed before factory paint with masks and some after. The rear axles are usually painted black on a restoration. I was told at the John Deere museum that they were left untouched for adjustment and the manufacturing process for the axles left them dark in color.

Gasoline cap for small gas tank = red (It's been red since way back on early Ds)
Fuel cap for large tank = green
Radiator cap = green
Exhaust on many was originally painted green burnt off to rust but you'll like the flat or satin black high heat paint on it better. Clean it real well with no oil or finger prints and use plastic gloves or plastic around it later so no finger prints on paint before getting it hot to cure and high heat paint won't blister or peel off. It's your tractor and there are chrome and stainless pipes made to fit them now too.
