I was reading a question about Duel remotes just a second ago, and it got me thinking. How hard would it be to add a remote. I have a 66 model with only one set of remotes. this isn't affecting me too much currently, but should I choose to put a loader on this thing,it might very well come into play. the dashboark already has a slot for the extra lever, so let me know what plumming is needed. Thanks, Greg H.

In that vintage 4020 (like mine) the control valve is on the engine side of the fire wall with steel pipes to the remote connectors on the back of the transmission. I'm sure JD can supply the parts, but I don't know the price.

Last I looked CT wanted $490 for a rebuilt valve and $200 for the remote break away coupler. Pipes, linkage and control handle would be more... I don't need another remote that bad, yet.

Shoup (and others) carry an electrically switched remote doubler that plugs into the existing remote and with a switch some convenient position switches between a pair of outlets for about $400.

Since I tapped the pressure line of the 4020 to run my loader, I have a spare pressure line for back hoe because I put in two full pressure outlets (with flow restrictor valves). (Pressure is at the elbow just in front of the brake pedals, return to the transmission oil filter housing.) I've considered hanging a shelf on the right fender with a multiple hydraulic valve underneath (and the handles reversed to stick up with the valve outlets sticking down) tapped into the pressure and return lines that I added for loader and back hoe with a bracket out back somewhere for standard pioneer connectors. The available elbow room is all that limits that scheme. Valves could be stacked (until they run into the lift arm) with longer handles.

Bootheel in MO has the complete unit from handle to outlet for 750.00. Mine is on the way. Hope they told the truth.

Interesting. As always Gerald you show that there is more than one way to skin a cat, and you provoke further thought on this matter.
Thanks, Greg H.

I would put an independent valve in for a loader, like the setup Gerald has. I have a '66 4020 as well (what's your S/N?) with one remote. I need a second remote for infrequent use (hydraulic tongue swing on 1209 mo/co), so the solution I came up with is to put a Gresen selector valve on a bracket above the original bulkhead coupler, and put a set of hoses on it with male JD ends to connect to the original bulkhead, and two sets of JD female ends to provide doubles. I need two remotes only for the 1209, and I only need to move the tongue when I enter or leave a field, so turning once in a while to move the selector valve isn't that big of a deal. For frequent use, however, I'd come up with a different solution.
