If the hydraulic system is causing it, you're not going to get around it by simply jiggling on levers or the steering wheel. The hydraulic system is the #1 problem in regard to hot-cranking in just about all John Deeres. Cheapest and easiest fix is to install a manual pump destroker. Or - fix the internal hydraulic problem. I just fixed a JD300 Deere last week that had the cranking problem for years, but it started fine with the destroker. Finally got around to fixing the hydraulic internal leaks which included a bad hookup to an Alamo sickle-bar mower and also two problems in the three-point hitch lift that demanded oil all the time.

It is possible that your starter is not functioning properly. Have tried jumper cables from another battery to see if it turns faster? Sometimes when the engine is hot it heats up the starter and causes it to drag if the brushes are bad. Another possibility could simply be a bad battery.
