? Spacer Nuts - 420U - No response

About 2 weeks ago, I posted a question but got no responses, so I'll try again.

Are the spacers used on Dubuque-built tractors (Part no. M2195T)threaded or is the bore smooth; i.e., do the spacers turn on like a regular nut or are they smooth and simply slip over the bolts?

The spacers are used to adjust the wheel location and are located between the wheel web and the rim.

After consulting my parts book and service manual, the answer appears to be a special threaded nut. There also shows in the parts book for both 40 and 420 U&S tracttors a 4" spacer that used a smooth sleeve. It is not all that clear from the pictures in the parts amnual, but the service manual has a full page of width options using the nut style. Even using the nut style, I am not completely sure on how it goes together.I hope this is alittle helpful. If you are at a dealer or have access to the manuals, maybe you can figur it out.

I, too, looked at the 420 and 40 service manuals. I also read the owners manual which shows the methods to vary the wheel/tire width. It shows a drawing of the spacers on the outer end of the bolts. From this, I think that one can deduce that the spacer must be threaded. However, I'm not sure.

A JD dealer search showed two dealers with the spacers in stock; however when I called neither of them actually had the spacer. Deere still has them on hand at about $30 a piece.

I have a threaded spacer and a smooth spacer (reproduction) and I would like to know for sure which is correct.

Ken, I believe that Deerely Departed has these in stock. I don"t have their numbers or address right now but I"m sure they would be easy to find. I have seen their catalog and remembered them having these. Hope this helps. Mike

I have one of the spacer nuts from Deerely Departed. It has a smooth bore. I picked up some spacer nuts on e-bay and they are threaded.

Which are correct?
