Anyone see the Keller tractor (the expensive one written up in Two-Cylinder a few years ago from the estate sale near Davenport, Iowa) on display at Pickneyville, IL?

I saw the GP at Berrien Spring, Michigan July 1 of this year, Deere had not figured out how to make the drawbar stretch or telescope when the rear track was adjusted, I am going to the Pinkneyville, Illinois tomorrow , it shud be a nice show.

The tractor that Keller bought was an experimental GP that had JD"s first attempt at adjustable tread. Here"s the Paul and Michael Ostrander"s GP site address. You have to wait quite a while for it to load. There are a lot of pictures. I think Michael did the restoration.

Frank and Glen are correct - it is an experimental GP.

It was shown this year at the Two-Cylinder Expo held in Amana, Iowa, during June.

It"s a fairly strange beast. The surprise to me was the weird arrangement whereby the steering became disengaged when either foot brake was depressed. Apparently, the idea was to be able to make quick, 180 turns at the ends of rows without having to spin the steering wheel - you depressed the appropriate foot brake, the steering disengaged and the front (tricycle) wheels acted as a caster, the rear wheel being braked would slow down or stop, and (apparently) the tractor would spin around on a dime without having to turn the steering wheel! Then, after the turn, releasing the foot brake would cause the steering to re-engage.

It"s a little surprising that this concept actually made it to the experimental stages. Seems a little tricky and dangerous to me (trying to handle a tractor whose steering wheel is disconnected if you hit the brakes). Since nothing like this ever put into production, someone else at Deere must have agreed.

Yes, I think it's a GP. Search back in archives here as there is a show with all GPs coming up next month or maybe it's done going on now?

It's a GP, Wide-Tread, not an "A", right?
