I found a neat little model A john deere in the weeds today that I need help finding what year it is. It is styled with a steel pan seat, and the starter and teeth on the flywheel are exposed like on a model H. I was guessing that it was one from the early fourties but when I looked at the back of the tractor, the axle housings had john and deere stamped in the back of them. Would anyone have a rough clue what year it might be? I am also wondering if any styled tractors came from the factory with those castings on the housing. I know it would have made it a lot easier to look at the cerial number, but due to my encounter with a bunch of rattlesnakes under it, I had to keep my distance. Nothing like the thrill of tractor hunting in West Texas.

It is a 41 to 47 A. The Raised letters are correct on those years. The Rattlesnakes were dealer installed options.
