What type of grease or other lubricant should I use in installing the differential and transmission in my 1950 model B? The manual says to lubricate pinions, shafts and bearing before assembly.

Whatever lubricant you're going to use in the transmisson/rearend should be just fine. Once you have reassembled roll assembly over several tlmes so oil is carried to and covers all areas, gears, bearings etc.

It's a little sticky, but good gear assembly lube, and that's STP. When I used to do a lot of truck/auto diffs, we used it all the time. Dip the bearings, gears, etc, and they're guaranteed to turn over nicely.
