ARS I did one years ago and I think it was a fine thread 3/4. Instead of buying an all-thread use a bolt and a piece of pipe and add washers as it pulls out. Lynn

I used what ever I had laying around that I could weld to a nipple. I think I only had 3/8"

well, it couldnt have been 3/8" because the inside diameter of the tube is alot bigger than that. its about 5/8", or maybe a hair bigger. maybe im not completely understanding how to do it...

third party image

I replaced the tubes on my '37 A a couple of months ago. I used a 5/8" coarse thread tap to thread the tubes and a piece of 5/8" all thread to remove them. I removed the tubes without taking the head off. I was surprised at how thin the metal had become as you may be able to see where the all thread went through part of one of the tubes. I have not run the tractor since the install but plan to in the next couple of weeks. Hope this helps!

ARS,
I believe Mike M was using a 3/8 NPT pipe tap - that would be about right. Then he welds a piece of all-thread (any size) to a 3/8" pipe nipple and threads the pipe nipple into the brass tube he just tapped. Then slide a piece of pipe over the nipple/all-thread large enough that the brass tube will fit inside, put a washer and nut over the top of the pipe, and tighten the nut to pull the brass tube.

I think Mike said there is nothing special about the 3/8" pipe tap - just happened to be what he had that fit to make threads in the brass tube - just use a tap which gives threads inside the brass tube, weld the all-thread to a bolt which fits the tap, and do as above. But make sure your tap is not too large so it cuts thru the brass and damages the head.

You got it exactly right, that's how I did it.

I think I used the pipe tap because it seemed to fit the best and they are tapered so they start easier and then the piece I screwed into it held tighter as well. I did mine right on the tractor.

Im unsure of the all thread size, but guess if that fails to extract them youre left with pulling the head and using the proper size bushing drivers. I could have swore my unstyled B pushrod tubes were slightly larger on the inside head side (why we had to remove head to remove n reinstall) but its been a while or maybe your styled is different??

Sorry not much help on this one, been toooo long

The push rod tubes are larger on the valve cover side and must be installed from that side.
