Jon,

SOme questions:

* when you say it "runs for a while", is this just idling or are you working it?
* how long in minutes is "runs for a while"?
* when you state "it sits for awhile", then will crank back-up, how long is that period?

When i started working on my MT, i thought it was the carb, but it was things like a bad coil that when heated, it would cut out and die, then points, then something else...

Try the old open the bottom of your carb and let the gas drain for about 30 sec's [save it today], and see if you get a good stream [pencil size] of continuous gas...if you do, then check your float to see that it does not have gas in it...if you do not get a good stream of gas, then work your wat back to see where it is clogged...post back and let us know.

thanks,
tstex

i found what it was they was a piece of rubber material that was in the fuel line at idle it would run fine but when you started working it and you started sucking the fuel it was get stuck not leting the fuel flow the substance was like jelly or a big snotty booger but i guess it would float up when stopped and allow gas to flow

John

To check for gas flow, about the only way to insure it is take the drain plug out of the bottom of the carb and see if it keeps a steady flow out of the open plug.
