I did my unstyled B right on the tractor. I pulled them out by first running a pipe tap into them I think 3/8" NPT ? Then I rigged up an allthread with a pipe nipple on the end. I screwed this into my threads I just cut then slid a larger pipe over the allthread to draw it up into and used some washers and a nut then just turn the nut drawing the push rod tube out and up into the larger pipe. My holes in the cyl. head were not machined very good or to an even spec. so I had to use JB weld to get the new tubes to seal tight. I used a tapered punch to swage the outer end out. These tools looked similar to the "special" ones pictured in a JD service manual.

I just went to the top of the page and searched archives for "pushrod tubes". If you go to page 6, # 109 and 122 there is a description there. Part# is B1290r

ARS, Its been quite a while since I replaced mine, but I remember for sure we had to use a good Snap On bushing driver. As I recall??? they drive OUT from the front/exterior side of the head but drive back IN from the rear/interior side as its a wider shank there inside the combustion area. You driving them the correct way????

Prior to installation of the new ones I put them in a freezer to shrink them down and used silicone grease to coat the surfaces and used that Snap On Bushign Driver and they drove in (from the inside side) n sealed n never leaked. I think some guys use sealant on the reinstallation.

Hopefully if I got my direction bass ackwards someone can correct me.
