I took the carb off my 1967 3020 tractor because it acted as if there was very little fuel getting to carb and checked fuel filter and fuel pump and fuel flow from tank and was OK. When I took the carb apart the float would not move inside the carb body and the float was new within the last 2 years. I replaced with the old one I removed back 2 years ago and it operated freely, do these floats swell up with gasohol fuel.

Sounds like the M/S USX carb. Yes, ethanol and methanol blends will cause some carb float materials to swell if it doesn't eat them completely up eventually. It can also eat some gasket materials and cause them to dry and shrink when not in use. Alcohol blends won't affect brass floats or lead gaskets. Ran into that years ago on racing engine carburetors with 170 octane methanol and that's why they make brass floats and special parts for those big Holley spread bore carbs.

I run nothing but gas/ethanol mix in my 3010 with no problems but the float in my cast iron Zenith carb is brass.
