Calcium or something else?

Hi all. I'm somewhat embarrassed to ask this question but figured you all have answered me so well in the past that I'd try again.

I bought a 4010 and the rear tires need to be drained and dismounted. The liquid in these 18.4-34 tires is sort of a clearish light gold liquid. Looks like ginger ale although doesn't smell sweet or anything like an antifreeze. I don't know if the liquid is calcium chloride or something else. How can I tell for sure? Don't want to dump something poisonous on the ground.

Thanks for the suggestions for figuring out this mystery liquid.

It's probably Calcium Chloride that has discolored from the iron in the well water that it was mixed with years ago. If you get it on a cut, it will sting like crazy, and if you want to try the "F-I-T ain't dead, yet!" method, taste just a bit from your finger. It will be salty, but not quite like table salt. If it had an alcohol or glycol constituent, you'd be able to feel the slick of the glycol, or smell the methanol (like windshield wsher fluid).

As to disposal, you can pour it on your gravel driveway for weed and dust control. It is the same product in water as ice melt pellets once they melt the ice. you won't be polluting any more than the state when they salt the highways, just don't pour it directly into a waterway. Some tire services like to reclaim this fluid, so a quick call might find some one who will take it for no charge.

But you may choose to handle the matter as you see fit.

Are the wheels rusty and eat up? About the only other thing they used was alcohol and water and it don't eat at the wheels like calcium also calicum is salty and that's why it eats the wheels
