I can find out where the correct place for the "be careful" stickers go. i have a 1944 JD B, hand start, flat back. two different "be careful" stickers came with my decal set, so i use both? one is about tractor speed and the other is about disengauging the pto. also, the sticker for the air cleaner oil... does it go above or below the ring that holds the cup on the bottom?

I think the placement Pat said on the Be Careful ones is right from what I've been told before. I still kinda doubt back then they even worried about that kinda stuff and I really have not seen any traces or reminents of saftey stickers on the ones I've restored. So I have no proof either way ?

Now on that air cleaner service decal your B cup should allready have the level stamped in it and the service decal goes up above the clamp band on the body of the air cleaner. I don't know how far up but not clear down and still below the center. And I have seen clear evidence of this in MY restorations. Hope this helps.

ARS --

You did not ask about the SERVICE AIR CLEANER DAILY decal, but since Mike mentioned it -- that decal should be placed so that its bottom is roughly 2 inches above the oil bowl clamp. (PatB)

Forgot to add since you have a band style clamp that is a Donaldson air cleaner and make sure you get a Donaldson sticker. I once had a popular decal guru send me a set for an H and it had one for a United air cleaner which was never used on an H needless to say I never use them anymore.

I tried to access the site refered to by P Browning and my browser say it doesn't exist. I am sure it does exist but may be something funny in the address.

Yes -- Gary -- something is (or was) wrong. Let's try it again. See Below

ARS -- The BE CAREFUL decal dealing with safe driving speeds goes on the back of the seat, above the center hole.

The BE CAREFUL decal dealing with the power shaft is placed length (along axis of tractor), centered on the PTO shield, so as to be read when you are standing just to the rear of the left axle (Hard to otherwise describe).

The OIL LEVEL decal is placed (on the oil bowl) such that its arrows fall at the embossed oil level mark on the oil bowl of the air cleaner. If your bowl has no embossed mark, set arrows one-inch down from top of the oil bowl.

I provide this data as if it is the same for the JD-H -- which I believe it to be. And you can check in over at the JD-H Restoration Site for a visual of the PTO decal. Once there, click on DECALS.

I invite others to come in here and either agree or guide ARS otherwise. (PatB)
