Anyone know of a means to reduce/eliminate the excessive noise from the hydraulic pump that ends up in the cab of a 5020? Drives me crazy. Tried the obvious - layed down foam insulation on the floor of the cab and the bottom of the instrument console - not much help. I heard the 5020 is "famous" for this, so someone must have figured out a way to reduce the noise. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I agree with MSB on putting a different attentuator on. Are all hydraulics working right? Steering and brakes okay? The pressure control valve, PCV can get bad and cause lots of noise also. The PCV's job is to provide constant pressure to steering and brakes during other hydraulic functions. If you notice hard steering or poor brakes while using rockshaft or remotes the PCV is probably worn or bad spring inside.

You might try to find an attenuator off junked 30 series tractor with sound gard body.It looks like an accumulator but absorbs the hydraulic noise. That should help considerably in reducing the noise.

Thanks for the input. The brakes and the steering seem to be fine, but maybe the PCV is still worn?? I'll look into the accumulator - sounds like a good idea.
