I need to know the procedure for the unassembly and reassembly(with new parts) on the seat frame. I have it removed off the tractor and the shock absorber is off that is as far as i have gotten. Basically i need to know how the little shafts that hold everything together come out, and how the torsion springs come out and so on. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

See a recent post in JohnnyPopper.com about the same topic with a few extra hints and info.

The springs have roll pins holding the adjuster and the rear cover together drive them out and pry it apart. The pivot shafts at each corner have knurled spots in the center that hold them into the metal part. An air hammer works great to knock those out. I use a C clamp to press them back in when assembling.

Adam;
Those seats are a puzzle. In the John Deere service manual it covers four pages and ten illustrations! I did it six or seven years ago and it involve a lot of prying, penetrating oil and bad language.
The rear bulkhead comes off first then the cross arms on the springs then the shock then the front pins are driven toward the inside of the frame. If you are mechanicaly inclined you can figure it out. The best way it to get a JD Service manual!

I got it apart. Thanks for the advice. Now the challenge will be remembering how it goes back together!

Did you snap a couple of pictures before pulling it apart?

P.S.,

Where's a good place to get new rubber torsion springs for the seats?

I think I got mine at Minn-kota but it's been a while. I spray them with silcone at least once a year to try to prevent them from checkering and deteriorating. It's not a job I want to do again soon.
